Suffolk Wool Towns

Clare Museum

Clare Museum

Suffolk grew extraordinarily wealthy from its production and trade of woollen cloth. This wealth was used to build some of the finest timber framed houses in the country. Many of which are in villages and towns close to Bachelors Lodge… so worth a visit because they are so movingly pretty.

Such places are Clare, Cavendish, Long Melford, Lavenham.
